Educational needs of activity coordinators in the nursing homes

The thesis deals with the educational needs of activity coordinators in the nursing homes. The theoretical part characterizes nursing homes, their function, services, their legislative definition and then focuses on the elderly, their needs and the changes they undergo in old age. It also describes activation activities in the nursing homes, focusing on the characteristics of activity coordinators and specific activation activities. The theoretical section concludes with a discussion of adult education in the context of selected theories of human needs and adult motivation for further learning. Furthermore, the general principles of adult education and the current situation in the education of activity coordinators are described. The practical part includes qualitative research in which aspects that influence the educational needs of activity coordinators in the nursing homes were identified and evaluated. A total of five activation workers from three different nursing homes located in the South Bohemia region participated in the research.
Integration and activization of people older than 65 years into the social life in Písek

The bachelor thesis deals with the Integration and activization of people over the age of 65 in social events in Písek. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to find out what services and activities the city of Písek provides for the integration of people over 65 into the society. Four research questions are used to determine the goal. The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part deals with the old age and aging, changes in old age, social integration in the old age and activization of seniors. Qualitative research, the method of questioning and analysis are chosen for the empirical part. A semi-structured interview and document analysis is chosen as the technique. Seven informants took part in the research part. The results show that the services and activities provided to seniors are very diverse. Among the services and activities that serve to activize and integrate seniors into society we can include social - activization services for seniors and people with disabilities, Senior Point services aimed at activization and improving the lives of seniors, services for seniors from the Red Cross and informational, educational and cultural services for seniors by the Municipal Library. A total of 14 providers provide services and activities in the town of Písek. This bachelor thesis could serve as an overview of the services and activities that are located in the town of Písek, both for seniors and for the general public. It could also serve providers of social services for the elderly to find out in what services and activities are seniors interested in the town of Písek and whether they are sufficiently informed about them. This bachelor thesis could also be used for students and other workers in the social field.
Social work with people Alzheimer's disease

The object of this undergraduate thesis is to theoretically describe social work focused on in-home care for patients with Alzheimer's disease and to highlight specific features of this target group. This work contains characteristics of Alzheimer's disease as described in academic literature. Also, it covers the topic of in-home care, specific features of communication with the patient and the strain laid on the social worker. Finally, this thesis lists the options of help and support of social work towards both the patient and the social worker and focuses on possibilities of nonpharmacologic treatment.
Specifics of education and activation of seniors in residential facilities

The thesis deals with the issue of education and activation of seniors in residential facilities - homes for the elderly. In the theoretical part it deals with the quality of life of seniors, motivation for further education, intergenerational learning, the topic of aging and old age in the context of demographic, socio-political, health, cultural and legislative aspects. It is the demographic development of society that is a major impetus for change in the field of professional institutional care for the elderly. Specific integrative, counselling, therapeutic and rehabilitation approaches and conceptualisations of these topics are set within the framework of andragogy and gerontagogy. The research focuses on two target groups: on the one hand, the elderly themselves who have completed educational and activation programmes and on the professionals who implement or prepare (methodologically, managerially) these activities and activities. The aim of the thesis is to observe the interdisciplinary importance of education, animation and activation for the development of cognitive abilities of individuals and their quality of life. Possibilities of education and activation of seniors in social facilities

The diploma thesis is focused on mapping the possibilities and availability of education and activation of seniors in social services of selected social facilities in the South Moravian Region. The thesis monitors the offer of educational and activation programmes for the elderly in the South Moravian Region, especially in the Hodonín and Kyjov districts, their implementation and positive or negative impact on the elderly. In the theoretical part, I focus on the topic of old age, a very topical issue of ageing, the definition of essential educational and activation programmes and their importance and benefits, the quality of the programmes offered and the education and activation of seniors in the context of the applied science discipline. I mention the participants in the programs, highlighting the need for expertise in the field and a brief breakdown of the programs. Elderly activization through social services system

The bachelor thesis deals with the activization of seniors in the system of social services. It focuses on issues in providing of activization services from the point of view of their providers. The key aim of the work is to discover and identify the main problems or weaknesses with strengths, opportunities and threats in the providing of social activization services for the elderly on the example of the Ústí Region. This issue is examined, in the work, on the basis of research interviews with providers of activization services for the elderly, further interviews with two experts at local and regional level. These data are compared and linked to data from relevant public policy documents dedicated to the area of the region and also to documents devoted generally to this issue at national level. This work is based on the theoretical and value points, namely the quality of life, active ageing, public policy cycle with a focus on the evaluation phase and ways of activization of seniors. Results from the Ústí Region clearly summarizes the SWOT analysis, which means that it finds not only gaps in providing of social activization services for the elderly but found strengths in providing of these services stand in contrast, too. Activation Programs in the Social Facilities for the Elderly

This doctoral thesis broadly extends and expands upon the author's previous work regarding the activity levels and education of the elderly in nursing homes. The introductory section deals with the theoretical aspect of problems connected with the ageing process. It also maps the provision of social services for the elderly in the Czech Republic and the mechanisms for ensuring their quality. Further, it addresses the political strategies regarding the ageing population both here and on a European scale. The focus of this doctoral thesis is the chapter dealing with the activity levels of the elderly in nursing homes, including the most common techniques used when working with the elderly. The largest part is dedicated to zoo-therapy, as it is closely related to the author's research into residential homes for the elderly in the Czech Republic. The services offered in such places are both nursing-care and social-care orientated, including moderate exercise. The author regards as very important effective educational and exercise programmes which utilize the therapeutic effect of the natural environment and animals.
